Designer House

Pineapple Acre in Ginter Park 2016 Designer House

The Richmond Symphony Orchestra League 2016 Designer House, open from September 12 through October 10, is located at 3223 Hawthorne Avenue in historic Ginter Park. Pineapple Acre, one of Richmond’s finest homes, was designed by noted architect Courtenay S. Welton in 1929.

Since 1984, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra League has sponsored the Designer House every other year to raise money for the Richmond Symphony.  For each Designer House event, the RSOL selects a large host home for the event, and then invites local designers to compete for the opportunity to decorate one of the 20 to 30 spaces inside and outside the home.  The designers transform their spaces, donating their time and materials.

Designer House month-long event features daily general admission tours, an on-site Café and a Boutique where local artisans sell items like clothing, jewelry, accessories, home goods, stationery and crafts. Special events such as the Preview Gala and Thirsty Thursdays are offered and the Designer House venue is available for rental for private parties. Wine Dinner

THE RICHMOND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA LEAGUE occasionally hosts wine dinners at fine Richmond area restaurants.
Past events have been held at Tarrant's West and Max's on Broad. Watch here for details about future events!

Champagne & Chocolates

The RSOL members and their guests participate in our fun and festive fundraising social event, Champagne & Chocolates. These are mini-concerts presented four times a year by the RSOL featuring Symphony ensembles and Concerto Competition winners in private home settings for between 30 to 100 guests. This is an opportunity to meet the musicians in a more informal manner. There is a small charge for the event which is a means of financial support for the Symphony.

The March Opening at the Crossroads Art Center

The Crossroads Art Center's goals are to exhibit the work of emerging and established artists from the mid-Atlantic region and to offer instruction and education in the visual arts.  At the March opening, RSOL provides wine, beer and other beverages, and the sale of these beverages is a fund raiser for our organization - all net proceeds benefit The Richmond Symphony.  This year's event was  held on March 17, 2017.
