Events & Fundraising

We are always coming up with new and fun events to support the Richmond Symphony.  Here are a few highlights:

RSOL Day at the Great Big Greenhouse

The RSOL will be at The Great Big Greenhouse (2051 Huguenot Road, Richmond, VA 23235) on November 17, 2018 for a fundraiser and to promote the Richmond Symphony.  This is a very successful fundraiser that is conducted in conjunction with an open house that the Great Big Greenhouse hosts to kick off the holiday season each year.  There are many ways to participate in this event including preparing and donating cookies, cakes, and treats for the bake sale ahead of time, setting up and selling the baked goods at the event, helping with the musical instrument petting zoo, and showing up to support the fundraiser by shopping.  It is an enjoyable way to share what the RSOL does to support the Richmond Symphony!

The Great Big Greenhouse generously donates a portion of the gross sales for that day to the RSOL.

Designer House

RSOL’s 2018 Designer House - Holly Lawn

“one of the best examples of the Queen Anne style in the state of Virginia.”
– Chris Novelli, Virginia Department of Historic Resources

The Richmond Symphony Orchestra League (RSOL) held the 2018 Designer House at the renowned Holly Lawn estate. Located in the Hermitage Road Historic District, this gorgeous Queen Anne style home completed in 1901 was once home to the Richmond Council of Garden Clubs and is on the National Historic Register of Places. Virginia’s leading interior designers will transform the spacious home on 2.1 acres.

Not only is Holly Lawn famous for its historic significance, more recently, many Richmonders will remember the storm of June 2016 that sent a majestic 175-year-old red oak crashing into the front facade of the home. It took nearly two years to painstakingly repair the home to maintain its historic majesty.

Holly Lawn’s main home features five bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, a sun porch, a library, a living room, a formal dining room, a spacious foyer, a kitchen with a butler's pantry, and a sweeping Southern style front porch.  One of the earlier homeowners named the estate “Holly Lawn” for the beautiful imagery provided by the holly trees lining the grounds.

The Designer House is presented by the Richmond Symphony Orchestra League to benefit the Richmond Symphony.

Amazon Smile Program

EASY WAY TO SUPPORT THE RSOL:  AMAZON SMILE

A really fast, easy way to support the RSOL is to use the AmazonSmile program, and it does not cost you anything!  AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shipping features as Amazon.com.  The feature we love:  a percentage of the purchase price of the items you buy is donated to the charity of your choice.  All you have to do is designate the Richmond Symphony Orchestra League as the charity of your choice and shop at AmazonSmile.  Every quarter, Amazon sends the proceeds to the RSOL.  So when you shop at Amazon, be sure to use the AmazonSmile website.

Here's the very simple way to sign up:

1.  Click this link to AmazonSmile.
2.  Click on 'Pick your own charitable organization' towards the right of the page.
3.  Type:  Richmond Symphony Orchestra League.
4.  A pop-up will appear that identifies Richmond Symphony Orchestra League, Richmond Virginia.
5.  Shop as usual.
Each time you shop at AmazonSmile, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra League should pop up as your designated charity pick.

Thank you for supporting the Richmond Symphony Orchestra League through AmazonSmile!

The March Opening at the Crossroads Art Center

The Crossroads Art Center's goals are to exhibit the work of emerging and established artists from the mid-Atlantic region and to offer instruction and education in the visual arts.  At the March opening, RSOL provides wine, beer and other beverages, and the sale of these beverages is a fund raiser for our organization - all net proceeds benefit The Richmond Symphony.  This year's event will be held on March 15, 2019 at the Crossroads Art Center, 2016 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, VA 23230.

Champagne & Chocolates

The RSOL members and their guests participate in our fun and festive fundraising social event, Champagne & Chocolates. These are mini-concerts presented four times a year by the RSOL featuring Symphony ensembles and Concerto Competition winners in private home settings for between 30 to 100 guests. This is an opportunity to meet the musicians in a more informal manner. There is a small charge for the event which is a means of financial support for the Symphony.

For more information, please contact the Richmond Symphony Orchestra League at info@rsol.org.

Wine Dinner

The Richmond Symphony Orchestra League periodically works with local restaurants to host wine dinners as fund raising opportunities to further our efforts to support the Richmond Symphony.  Restaurants that have hosted wine dinners for us include Tarrant's West, Max's on Broad, and Julep's New Southern Cuisine.  Many thanks to those restaurants who have partnered with us in the past.  Watch here for future opportunities to join us at one of these enjoyable evenings!
